Do My Feelings Matter?

Only if they matter to you, will they matter to others.
In the Sound System we are using sound as a way to contact feelings, sensations and anything at all that is present in the body. It sounds so simple and it is, but it is one of the hardest things to do; to get in touch, to tune into feelings and sensations in the body without thinking about them or analyzing them. To experience yourself directly, without interference of judgement about whether or not you should or should not be feeling what you are feeling.
You may have not ever had the option to make your feelings matter. If your parents didn’t then likely you won’t.
Using sound inside of us helps us to get in touch with feelings. Sound makes an impact or creates a disturbance inside of you which has an affect that is a felt experience. It penetrates us inside and disturbs the present status quo of where we are holding tightly, or bracing against. It is disturbing. It has the ability to disturb or to calm. Either way there is an impact in the form of a sensation or feeling that we can learn to be still with and experience directly.
Just as sound is the cause, so are our lives, our relationships, our work, our experiences that are the causes that we react to to make us react, to feel and to shake us up. What is important is to sit with the affects of life and to learn to be still with feelings and sensations. This matters. Again, only if you believe it does.
There are a multitude of benefits that we gain from singing and toning. These can be found to range from increased metabolism to gaining clarity and increased joy, the list is endless. What seems missing in all of these lists is the very simple fact that, singing and toning make me feel. It is the catalyst that gets me in tune with my feelings. It helps to release feelings, to move feelings, to increase feelings etc. Again, only if this matters to you will you allow it to be so. I sing to heal but to heal I must feel.
We have abdicated the throne of our feelings and ourselves mattering first and foremost. The right to be here is the right of the first chakra, the right to have feelings is the second chakra, and as we climb up the rainbow bridge of ourselves we activate the right to act, the right to love and be loved and the right to share and speak this love through the voice. Then as we get closer to the highest chakras we gain the rights to see clearly and to understand. Every chakra is necessary for wholeness, every chakra has the potential of being stimulated, opened and purified through the Sound of Being.
