Craig Wanless

Master Therapeutic Counsellor, Registered Counselling Supervisor, Licenced Counselling Therapist

Craig has over 15 years of experience helping individuals, couples, families, and youth—even those initially skeptical about therapy. He's a long-time group facilitator, especially with men,and draws from a rich tapestry of approaches. While he in corporates Family Systems Theory, Transformative Couples Therapy, and Mindfulness, since 2016, Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) has truly become his clinical home. Craig wholeheartedly believes in the radical power of emotional healing that unfolds when people feel safe enough to shed their masks and truly feel. If there's one overarching theme in his work, it's this: healing happens in connection, not in isolation—and we don't need to be fixed, we need to be felt.

When working with Craig, you'll experience a therapeutic approach that compassionately supports you in safely accessing and processing deeper feelings, emphasizing the
transformative power of fully experiencing emotions as guides toward personal growth and empowerment. You'll also explore relational dynamics and patterns to understand their profound
influence on your thoughts, behaviors, and emotional responses, fostering improved interpersonal awareness, empowering healthy boundary-setting, and enhancing communication. Craig will help you identify and gently challenge unhelpful thought patterns that contribute to anxiety and distress, equipping you with practical strategies to reframe negative thinking and cultivate healthier cognitive responses. He'll expertly guide you in developing present-moment awareness to reduce rumination and regulate anxiety, and you'll learn and practice breathwork, grounding techniques, and mindful self-reflection to support emotional balance.

This comprehensive framework is thoughtfully tailored to support clients in navigating a wide range of challenges, effectively regulating anxiety, and fostering deeper emotional awareness and resilience. By fully experiencing these healthy emotions, clients gain invaluable insights into their basic needs, guiding them toward actions that truly fulfill them. This empowering process allows you to live more fully and freely, with greater self-trust and satisfaction.

Beyond his clinical work, Craig dedicated 12 years to teaching a counsellor training program at a post-secondary college, mentoring hundreds of future counselling therapists, has facilitated therapeutic workshops around the world, led impactful men's groups, and worked extensively in family services. In his personal life, he's been happily married for 20 years, is a proud father, an avid Crossfitter (he genuinely loves the gym!), and finds immense joy in getting lost in the wilderness for a weekend backpacking adventure.
