JR Dingwall

Shiatsu Practitioner

JR trained in Shiatsu at the Saskatoon Shiatsu Centre and is a member of the Natural Health Practitioners of Canada (NHPC). As a martial artist who first experienced shiatsu as a client, he discovered how it supported both his training and overall wellbeing - physically and mentally. This led him to study shiatsu, integrating the practice more fully with his ongoing judo and karate training. He approaches this work through the principle of jita kyoei - mutual welfare and benefit - bringing the same collaborative spirit from the dojo into his practice with
clients. Through shiatsu, practitioner and client work together toward balance, regulation, and wellbeing.

Shiatsu is a Japanese manual therapy that uses sustained pressure on tsubos (pressure points) applied along the body's meridians to regulate energy flow, relieve tension, and calm the nervous system. Working with the whole body rather than isolated symptoms, shiatsu helps restore balance and supports the body's natural ability to heal and maintain health.

JR's practice focuses on helping clients - particularly those with active lifestyles - reconnect with their physical and energetic state from head to toe. The flowing, dynamic techniques are well-suited for martial artists, athletes, and anyone
managing stress or seeking general wellness support.

Sessions take place on a comfortable mat on the floor, with clients remaining clothed in light, comfortable clothing. Treatment progresses through different positions - sitting, lying on the back, sides, and front - as pressure is applied using thumbs, fingers, and palms. Techniques include pressing, stretching, and joint mobilization, all adjusted to the client's comfort level. Clients can experience improved energy flow, nervous system regulation, and deeper connection to their
body.
